Cabinet approves Bt56 million to compensate violence victims

The Cabinet Tuesday approved Bt56million budget to compensate victims in recent political violence.

Deputy government spokesperson Suparat Nakboonnam said the victims entitled to compensation were those killed or injured in the violent incidents on August 29, September 2 and October 7.

Most casualties took place on October 7, when two people were killed and more than 400 others injured.

According to Suparat, the families of the dead victims will each get Bt400,000 one-off compensation. Children of the dead victims, if any, will also get a monthly subsidy of between Bt1,000 and Bt1,500 for their education until they receive a bachelor's degree.
