Putting more effort into developing longer-lasting vaccines that require fewer injections to protect against infectious diseases and developing skills to translate and control genes to tackle neglected diseases are the main challenges for today's young scientists, this year's Prince Mahidol awardees said yesterday.

Professor Yu Yongxin, director emeritus of China's National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products, and Professor Sergio Ferreira, a pharmacology researcher at Brazil's University of Sao Paulo, made the remarks at a press conference held by the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation.
