Ubon Ratchathani - A construction worker from Yasothon immolated himself after he was cheated out of his pay and couldn't give his parents money to hire hands to harvest rice on their farm.
Thawatchai Tothaiya, 30, set himself on fire on Tuesday evening in the middle of a street in Sawad Village of Lerng Noktha district. He succumbed to his burn wounds early Wednesday morning at Ubon Ratchathani's Sappasithprasong Hospital, Major Sukkasem Sahinkong of Muang Ubon Ratchathani Police Station said.
His brother-in-law Srisak Netwong, 42, told police that Thawatchai was a hardworking bachelor who used his free time from growing rice to do construction work in Suphan Buri.
