Supreme commander urges all sides not to drag monarchy into fights

The Supreme Commander of the Armed forces Tuesday urged feuding parties to avoid mentioning the monarchy in their political dispute.

General Songkitti Jakkabatr said the monarchy is above politics and should not be dragged into the ongoing conflict.

"We Thais must help protect the monarchy and should not drag the institution into politics. I would like to appeal against any reference to the monarchy for political reasons," Songkitti said.

"The monarchy deserves high reverence from us, our children and our grandchildren. This is the best measure for all the Thai people," said the general.
