Health Ministry to use helicopters to evacuate injured in disasters

The Public Health Ministry plans to use helicopters to evacuate victims with serious injuries incurred in natural disasters and fires in a bid to reduce the number of fatalities and disabilities, Deputy Minister Manit Nopamornbodi said yesterday.

"We know that using a helicopter to transfer patients from a disaster or accident site to hospital is expensive, but it is worth it to save people's lives and reduce the number of disabilities," he said at a press conference after meeting with the Public Health Ministry's committee for emergency medical services.
