Fire victims decline pub operator's aid

Relatives of many Santika inferno victims yesterday refused offers of financial help from the pub's operator, fearing they will forfeit their right to sue for compensation.

The blaze, which gutted the nightclub during a countdown party, killed more than 60 revellers and injured hundreds more.

The pub operator has set up a temporary centre to hand out cash at Bt10,000 to each injured victim and Bt20,000 to the family of each deceased victim.
