Army chief orders soldiers to be on alert during weekend

Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Anupong Paochinda has instructed army agencies in Bangkok to be on alert for possible untoward incident during the weekend, the Army spokesman said Friday.

Col Sansern Kaewkamnerd said soldiers would be on standby to provide reinforcements to police when necessary.
