Yala - Insurgents detonated a bomb at a morning market in this southern border province Wednesday, injuring three soldiers and five civilians.
The explosion occurred at 7:30 am at the entrance to the Yala Highways Office in front of Rot Fai Market in Yala Municipality came while Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Anupong Paochinda was visiting the province's Than To district.
Police said insurgents detonated the bomb with a mobile phone apparently to ambush a unit of soldiers from Yala Taskforce 11 who parked their vehicle to buy foods at the market.
The injured were rushed to the Yala Provincial Hospital.
